My First Wedding Fair Experience at The Westmead Hotel, Redditch
Last weekend I had the pleasure of exhibiting at my very first wedding fair at the Westmead Hotel in Redditch, Worcestershire. The Westmead Hotel is a popular wedding venue located in Hopwood near Redditch, offering a beautiful setting for ceremonies and receptions. It is also just on the outskirts of Birmingham.
As a wedding photographer, I spend most of my time behind the camera capturing special moments on a couple’s wedding day. But this event gave me the chance to step out from behind the lens and meet engaged couples face-to-face, hear about their plans, and share my passion for storytelling through my wedding photography.
The wedding fair was hosted by Tied With A Bow Events, bringing together a wonderful selection of West Midlands wedding suppliers under one roof for brides and grooms to venture around. And it gives each of us vendors to connect with each other and build a strong network.

A Wonderful Atmosphere at the Westmead Hotel Wedding Fair
The atmosphere at the fair was warm, welcoming, quite relaxed and yet full of excitement. Couples attending the event were able to explore the venue, meet a variety of talented suppliers, and gather inspiration for their big day.
Wedding fairs are such a valuable part of the planning process because they allow couples to connect directly with professionals who can help bring their ideas to life. From florists and venue stylists to planners and photographers, it was fantastic to see so many creative businesses supporting couples on their wedding journey.

Showcasing My Wedding Photography
For my booth, I brought along a selection of my work to share with visitors. This included:
Different size prints from weddings I have done
Beautiful luxury wedding albums
A digital photo frame showing a slideshow of my wedding photography
It was really rewarding to see couples flipping through the albums, viewing the images, and asking a lot of questions. Questions that are usually about how I approach their day, the packages that I offer, their vision about their day, if they have any particular preference on the edit style. I also had such a great informal chat with them on the day itself and even getting a few of their details so that I could catch up with them after the wedding fayre.
My style focuses on natural, relaxed, documentary-style photography, capturing genuine emotions and moments as they happen.

Meeting Engaged Couples in the West Midlands
One of the best parts of the wedding fair was meeting so many lovely couples who are currently planning their weddings in Redditch, Birmingham, across the West Midlands and the rest of the UK. Every couple has their own story and vision for their day, and it was a pleasure hearing about their venues, ideas, and what they are looking for in a wedding photographer. Events like this are a great way for couples to ask questions, explore options, and find suppliers they feel comfortable working with.
A Big Thank You
I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who stopped by my stand to chat and look through my work. It was wonderful meeting you all. A special thank you also goes to Lisa at Tied With A Bow Events for organising such a fantastic wedding fair, and to The Westmead Hotel for hosting the event in such a beautiful setting.
Looking Ahead
This wedding fair was a big step for me and for Kelvin Tung Photography. It was an incredible experience and I’m already looking forward to attending more events in the future. If you met me at the fair and would like to continue the conversation, I’d love to hear from you.

Tips for Photographers Attending Their First Wedding Fair
If you’re a photographer considering exhibiting at your first wedding fair, one piece of advice I would share is not to feel intimidated by other photographers attending the event. It’s completely natural to look around and see many talented photographers showcasing their work. However, every photographer has their own unique style, personality, and approach to storytelling, and that’s exactly what couples are looking for when choosing someone to document their wedding day.
Rather than comparing yourself to others, focus on sharing what makes your work special and connecting with couples who resonate with your style.
Wedding fairs aren’t about competing with one another. They’re about meeting people, building relationships, and helping couples find the right suppliers for their big day.
For me personally, attending my first wedding fair was an incredibly positive experience, and I would absolutely encourage other photographers to give it a try if they’re thinking about it.
Another piece of advice I would share with photographers attending their first wedding fair is to focus on having genuine conversations rather than trying to “sell” your services straight away.
Couples attending a wedding fair are often meeting many suppliers for the first time, and it can feel overwhelming for them. Taking the time to simply chat, listen to their plans, and show interest in their story can make a much stronger impression than trying to immediately secure a booking.
For me, the most enjoyable part of the fair was hearing about different couples’ wedding plans and sharing ideas with them. Building those connections naturally creates trust, and that’s often what helps couples decide which photographer they feel most comfortable working with.
Wedding fairs are a wonderful opportunity to meet people, share your work, and simply enjoy being part of the wedding community.
